You are His ambassador. You carry His presence and His light into every room you walk into. The people around you, your neighbors, coworkers, classmates, and friends, are people God has called you to.

What Did Jesus See When He Looked at the Crowds?

In Matthew chapter 9, Jesus looked out at the crowds and saw people who were lost, hurting, harassed, and helpless. They were wandering without direction. He had compassion on them.

Then He turned to His disciples and said something that still applies today. He looked at the people around them and said they needed someone to show them the light. He called His church together and pointed outward.

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send workers into the harvest field." - Matthew 9:37-38

Not just for warm feelings or a good experience, but so that when life gets hard and the mission feels impossible, you have people around you who are headed in the same direction. People who will pray with you, believe with you, and encourage you to keep going.

In Acts chapter 4, after Peter and John were arrested and threatened by the religious leaders, they went back to their church family. And instead of praying for safety or an end to the tension, they prayed for boldness.

"Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus." - Acts 4:29-30

After they prayed, the place was shaken and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. That is the model. Bring your fear to God, lay it out honestly, and ask Him for boldness to keep going.

Difficulties on the mission are not a sign that you are on the wrong path. They are often a sign that you are on the right one. Jesus promised both the hard things and His presence through them.

This week, identify one person in your life who is hurting, lost, or searching. It does not have to be a dramatic moment. It could be a neighbor, a coworker, or someone you see regularly. Take one step toward them. Pray for boldness, then act on it. Invite them to coffee. Ask how they are really doing. Offer to pray for them. You do not have to have all the answers. Your job is to go. God will handle the rest.
